Factory Tour One of the major benefits of a manufactured home is the controlled environment in which it is built. The Champion, Silverton, OR facility is a great example of what economies of scale can achieve; providing a high level of quality at a great price. Materials are bulk purchased by the truckload, This is a weeks worth of windows, enough for 15 homes. The plant is arranged into a production line starting at
the bottom right. Materials and sub assemblies are prepared on the
left.
Decking The floor joists are assembled and clamped over a
structural steel frame. Major systems such as plumbing, ductwork,
and electrical are "roughed in" prior to the floor deck installation.
Contrast this with typical on-site construction, where these same system
can only be installed after the floor decking, framed walls,
etc are already installed!
Interior & Exterior Walls
Interior walls are assembled on a perfectly flat and square framing table at a convenient work height. Unlike site built construction, we have the luxury of being able to frame, wire, plumb, insulate and finally, sheetrock the wall in this position! The cost savings, of course, are passed on to you.
Manufactured homes not only provide affordability but
save natural resources as well. Imagine the savings when wall studs,
sheetrock, floor decking, and insulation batts are all purchased the
exact length needed. Not only is time & energy saved, but waste is also
kept to a minimum
Each wall assembly is then crane lifted into place. Exterior wall systems are retained to the deck by metal straps, ensuring structural integrity against earthquakes or storms. Roofing
Pre-engineered roof truss systems are assembled, then crane lifted into place. Unlike site built construction, we are able to complete the electrical system and apply insulation in the most cost effective way: before the roof sheathing is applied!
Final Assembly & Quality Control
The sections of the nearly completed home are place side by side, allowing a final checkout of major system connection points, or "crossovers" for plumbing, electrical and heating/air. Your new home, ready for delivery! |
