Ditching & Line Installation
|
Washington Home & Land Service's backhoe, operators, and land
evaluators make it look so simple. Now, and into the future, the location of all
utility lines is of great concern. Minimizing the lineal distance of ditching, and
placing multiple utilities in the same ditch, is normally preferred.

Bucket size, type of digging equipment, depth
requirements, bedding, horizontal and vertical separation are common regulatory
issues. Safety, "call before you dig", liability, agency turndowns, and
necessary equipment-return-visits, create delays and cost escalations.

When water lines must cross a driveway or road surface, it is strongly recommended that
the lines be placed inside a protective sleeve. Additional sleeves and extra lines
under asphalt, brick or concrete areas are inexpensive insurance policies for the future.
